I had a chance to try a Cohiba Riviera this past weekend. From the web site you will find that this is a box-pressed cigar and features a San Andres wrapper. The filler is Honduran Jamastran, Honduran La Entrada, Nicaraguan Condega, and Nicaraguan Estili. The cigar I had was a Toro. Cigar Aficionado rated this cigar at 92 points. They also gave this Medium-Full strength.
The cigar lit really well, and the first draw was smooth, and the chocolate flavors came through and were not as full strength to me as the rating states. After leaving the smoke in my mouth and exhaling it there was a nice, sweet taste. As I puffed on the cigar the smoke was a very sweet smell and a good body of smoke.
The cigar lasted about 30 minutes and maybe I was smoking a little faster and this could be a bit longer smoke for those of you that want that. I was having a Chocolate Old Fashioned with this cigar sitting outside and that could also be a good reason for the chocolate taste coming through.
The flavors stayed solid the whole way through the smoke and were a little harsh in the last inch of smoke but, that is where you are getting the heat from the burn.
Let’s talk about some pricing. This cigar retails for about $19.99 and to me is worth the price. You probably can find a nice cigar, a bit less expensive but, this one is a good smoke.
Find yourself a place to have a smoke and light up a Cohiba Riviera Robusto.
