Icy Nor’easter Cocktail

ginger beer, maple syrup, and benchmark 8 bourbon

Hello Cocktail Clan. Today I am going to talk about a Nor’easter cocktail I found at The Kitchn site.  I was out trying to get ready for Christmas Eve get together.  Find a bunch of Fall or Holiday cocktails and give them a try.  This one came up as I really enjoy the name.  Nor’easter.  Now a Nor’easter is an Icy Storm that hits the northeast with up to hurricane winds and blizzard conditions.  Now in the Midwest we don’t have a name for our winter storms except for a Blizzard or Winter storm.  So here it is.

Nor’easter

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • ½ oz Lime Juice
  • ½ oz Maple Syrup
  • Ginger Beer

In a shaker filled with ice combine your bourbon, lime juice, and maple syrup.  Give this a good shake for 20 seconds to get the ingredients combined and nicely chilled.

Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and top off with Ginger Beer.

Results:

I had made this Nor’easter cocktail and may have used the wrong glass or not enough ice in the glass.  When I sipped this cocktail, I only tasted the Ginger Beer.  I think more ice in the rocks glass and less ginger is needed for this cocktail.  I also think going up to ¾ oz of Maple Syrup would be great.  This I believe would bring more of the maple flavor into the cocktail and bring out the fall flavor.

I will retry this cocktail with the new recipe and update this blog.

If you find other great cocktails for the Christmas Season, give me a comment so I can give them a try and get ready for the gathering.  Now go give this a try and enjoy it.
