Hello Cocktail Clan. In Louisville, KY there is a bar called the Jocky Silks Bourbon Bar. Decided to visit and see what it is about. This bar is on the Urban Bourbon Trail and is described as an upscale bourbon lounge for the modern bourbon lover. It is located in the Galt House Hotel on the second floor.
Walking in you come to a dimly lit bar with a table and a TV that was on a basketball game. Nice decor on the walls and then you come to the bar area with very nice chairs around some smaller tables. Perfect for meetings and talking with friends in your group. Along the back wall were booths to enjoy as well.

Sit down at the bar and a very nice bartender hands us a cocktail / wine menu and brings us all a water. Decided to order a Lucky Debonair and a Genuine Risk. Found out that all of the syrups for their cocktails are made in house. Also each cocktail is hand made and nothing was premade or a mix. This can slow things down but, prefer this over pre-mixed coctkails.

Both of the cocktails were really good and the Debonair had a mint garnish and as you were drinking you smelled the mint and then tasting the ginger beer made for a very nice drink. The Genuine Risk with the ginger-jalepeno syrup gave that cocktail a very nice kick and the spice mix on the glass made for a excellent sip.

The rest of the menu is a variety of cocktails with gin, bourbon and vodka. The cocktails that were ordered were very good and the bartender talked with us about the location and how long he was with the bar. At the time there were no other patrons in the bar and seemed like a slow night. With the urban trail get checked in and not sure it means much more then you were at the bar.
Overall it was a very nice experience and it is a great bar for the hotel. However with the name Jockey Silks bourbon bar there was not a whole lot of artwork or character around Jockey’s. This was a bit of a dissapointment. The cocktails were excellent and would go back for them but, not to see anything about jockeys.
