Hello Cocktail Clan.  It is January and the temperature keeps dropping.  Here is an old-fashioned to keep you warm when the darkness sets at 4:30 PM.  We are talking about Winter Old-Fashioned.  The spiced simple syrup takes this cocktail to the next level to warm your belly.

This is a simple old-fashioned to make and will quickly become one of your favorites.

Tools:

Mixing Glass

This is a mixing glass for cocktails. It has a wide base and a narrow top, which makes it easy to hold and swirl. The glass is made of durable material, so it can withstand the wear and tear of making cocktails.

Hawthorne Strainer

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • .25 oz Spiced Syrup (Simple Syrup with cinnamon and nutmeg)
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Orange Peel for Garnish

Instructions:

Winter Old-Fashioned in a rocks glass
  • In a Mixing Glass combine the bourbon, Spiced Syrup, and the Bitters.
  • Add Ice to the Mixing Glass
  • Stir the concoction to combine and chill the cocktail
  • Grab a Rocks Glass
  • Add a large sphere of ice
  • Strain the concoction from the mixing glass to the Rocks Glass
  • Garnish with an Orange Twist
