gold rush oldfashioned

Hello Cocktail Clan.  Today we are going to talk about a cocktail that has a bit of a punch and give you a nice flavor of Honey to follow.  I am talking about a Gold Rush Old-Fashioned.  The key to this cocktail is the Barrel Proof Bourbon to pack that punch and then Honey Syrup to give you the sweet honey flavor.  Honey Syrup is easy to make so don’t be afraid of it.  Check this blog post out.

Tasting Notes:

Sipping this old-fashioned, the first thing you will taste is the bourbon.  This is why you use barrel proof to be a bourbon forward cocktail.  Then as you take your sip to the back of your mouth you will taste the honey and maybe a touch of cinnamon.  Then the hug comes.  Not a big one but, you know you are drinking a stiff cocktail.  It tastes very smooth overall.

Conclusion:

This cocktail gives you a reason to pull out the Cask / Barrel proof bourbon you have that you don’t like to sip neat or on ice. Easy to make and packs a punch on flavors.
