Ultimate Blue Monday Cocktail Recipe: Gin, Blue Curaçao & More

Blue Monday cocktail in a highball glass

Hello Cocktail Clan.  It’s Monday. The day that’s synonymous with alarm clocks, overflowing inboxes, and the fading memory of weekend freedom. But fear not, fellow cocktail enthusiasts, for I have just the remedy to cure those Monday blues: the Blue Monday cocktail!

Now, before you conjure up images of a depressing concoction resembling dishwater (because let’s be honest, some Mondays feel that way), let me assure you this drink is anything but. In fact, its origins are shrouded in mystery. Some say it was invented by a particularly clever bartender who, tired of gloomy Monday patrons, whipped up this vibrant blue elixir to lift their spirits.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Orange Liqueur
  • Dash of Blue Curacao
  • 3 oz Club Soda

Instructions:

  • Find a high ball glass and fill it with Ice
  • Add the Gin, Orange Liqueur, dash of Blue Curacao, and the club soda.
  • Give it a mix and you have your Cocktail
  • Sit back relax and enjoy

Tasting Notes:

As you taste this depending on your Gin choice the orange liqueur comes up first which is a great flavor with the gin.  Also depending on your Monday you may want to add more Blue Curacao to get the cocktail a deeper blue.  I did not get much flavor from the Blue Curacao but, the gin and orange were good.  Now go get rid of the Monday blues.

Whatever its true history, one thing’s for sure: the Blue Monday is a delicious blend of gin, orange liqueur, blue curaçao, and club soda that’s guaranteed to make you forget all about those Monday morning woes. (Well, almost.) Let’s get mixing and turn that frown upside down.
